The Election of 2008 is a Joke
9/13/08
I have been active in the patriot movement since I got out of jail in July of 2007. In that 14 months I met and talked with Tom Tancredo, Lindsey Graham opponent Buddy Witherspoon, and Senator Jim DeMint sent me a copy of his book “Why We Whisper”. My case even made Lou Dobbs show twice and I have been on numerous radio programs. And my friendly neighborhood liberal rag slammed me for being a racist because of my actions in protesting a guy who admitted to me that he employed illegal aliens.
I have had the honor and privilege of being supported by both Minuteman organizations, ALIPAC, Fire Society, You Don’t Speak For Me, and a hundred other organizations too many to name. Because of the moral support that they and thousands of fellow Americans all over this great country gave me I found the courage to fight and eventually be found not guilty. I actually won my case on court. Every time I was scheduled for court (6 times), the Minuteman organizations (both of them) conducted a telephone call-in alert for me. Americans from every state in the Union called my mayor, police chief and prosecutor’s office and gave them hell for trying to railroad me. The day after my trial a newspaper in Arizona came out with an editorial that read “ Terry Funderburk Wins One For America”.
All of this support humbled me. It made me feel so small and inadequate because I am a working American. A blue collar type except during hot weather I wear shorts and a t shirt to work. I go to work every day in my business and struggle like millions of my fellow Americans do day in and day out. For a while there, 3 or 4 years I actually experienced the American dream firsthand. Contractors were knocking on my door and burning my telephone up. I was working 6 and 7 days a week and never getting caught up.
Until a couple of years ago, when the face of my industry started changing. I had the privilege of experiencing it first hand. My work load and profits went way down to the extent I was lucky to have one job to do every 2 weeks. In 2006 my business grossed 176 grand, in 2007 it grossed 39 grand. I watched contractors give away business that I had done faithfully for years. I watched my business go straight to hell in less than a year because of greedy American businessmen more interested in the almighty dollar than anything else. I went from the American dream to a nightmare so quick that it still amazes me today.
And I decided to do something about it. I bid on a job where the homeowner told me that if I wanted the work then my bid should be as low as what his international roofers got which was 4 to 5 dollars an hour. I protested, called him a cheap %@#%#^%$ and my nightmare started. Protest sign jerked out of my hands by a cop, handcuffed, arrested and jailed. For what? Why, cursing of course, that is what the arresting officer told me. I spent 22 hours in jail for calling him a cheap b@$^%&%, which was exactly how he had presented himself to be to me. When the cop took me away from that house, in the back seat, handcuffed I watched that SOB homeowner with a grin on his face. I watched 3 illegal aliens steadily at work, not a care in the world. I saw 4 criminals get away scot free while I had the pleasure of experiencing jail and our flaunted criminal justice system first hand.
And watched my business crash and burn at the same time. The illegals flooded the construction industry in Columbia while I went to court numerous times. I had requested a trial by jury and it took 6 trips before I finally got my constitutionally guaranteed right of a trial by a jury of my peers. My prosecutor threatened me numerous times when I refused to plead guilty. He got so frustrated with me one time that he said if I did not plead guilty he would put another charge of cursing against me. I told him to do his damnedest and he did. At that point I was facing 60 days in jail for saying one little bad word.
But, the American people came through for me. Even though I lost faith in law enforcement, our political system and our politicians, the American people came though for me in my case because they saw through the bullcrap. Every time in court, Minutemen and other supporters were there beside me. 15 to 20 of them every time. American patriots all. I always felt so small and humble. And when that jury came back in and found me not guilty it was like the nightmare was over, except it wasn’t.
My business was still going downhill. My bills were so far behind that I did not see any hope for the future. 75% of the workers in construction here are illegal and our mayor and law enforcement would rather kiss their behinds instead of doing their duty to the American people and arrest them and their employers. They would rather offer us excuses instead of doing their jobs as they swore to do when they took office.
I have given up hope in our political system. Our presidential candidates would rather argue over who will give amnesty first rather than defend the rights of American citizens. Politicians at every level would rather listen to criminal lawbreakers than American citizens. They would rather listen to LaRaza, the US Chamber of Commerce and traitorious Americans than We the People and they have disgusted me. Democrats and Republicans both would rather advance their political careers that the interests of American citizens.
My experiences in the past 14 months has renewed my faith in the American people. The future of this country is in their hands. Our leaders and our justice system may have failed us but the American people keep the faith. And that faith is the US Constitution. We may be called racists, bigots and nativists. But they have only felt a small touch of our anger. When we finally awaken heads career politicians are going to be retired in masse for what has been done to us. I live for the day when term limits for every political office starts. I live for the day when criminal employers are going to have their day in court for their betrayal of the American people. I live for the day when I go into court to testify against the crook that put me in jail simply because he employed illegal aliens and that the police chief lived two doors down from him.
Some of you that read this might call me a racist for my actions. And I will tell you to shove it where the sun doesn’t shine. I have experience in both sides of the immigration question. Both legal and illegal. I was on a radio program once with the wife of a Mexican coyote. In 10 years time she and her husband were responsible for bringing over 40 thousand illegal aliens into Georgia and South Carolina. She told me and the audience that probably 99% of the Hispanics in the construction industry in Columbia, SC were illegals because her husband had brought most of the here.
My wife and daughter are legal immigrants from the Philippine Islands. It took 2 years and 15 thousand dollars to get them here following every rule in the book. Legally! I went through so many heartaches and paperwork and in that 2 years time probably 10 million illegal aliens decided to walk across our southern border without bothering to be invited or fill out any paper work. My wife and daughter had to go through 3 separate physical exams before they were allowed here while millions walk across our southern border unimpeded. Damn the paperwork, damn the health exams, once we get across the border we are home free and damn the laws of that country, besides once we get there we will drop anchor babies and we will be home free at that point.
These days I am still in business, believe it or not. While many of my compatriots are out of business I am still working because I do not know how to quit. The business slowdown along with the illegal alien invasion has not made me quit because I am an American and stubborn My community and industry may be over run with illegal aliens but I have not quit. Why? Because my faith in the American people has been undaunted. They gave me the courage to fight against impossible odds and win. They gave me the courage to stand up against a corrupt system and win. Even though I have no faith in our political system, I still have faith in the American people. And it had made me stronger because I know that in the end we will win because of that faith.
These days I work all I can and record all the criminal activity in my industry that I see. Because I have faith in the American people. I record all the criminal contractors, subcontractors that I see breaking our laws because down the road they will be prosecuted to the full extent of our laws because they chose to break them. Someday, if there is a God in heaven they will be charged with their crimes against the American people because I havethe evidence that they broke our laws. The American people made me believe that. Not the politicians, and not our justice or law enforcement systems because they have failed the people of this great country.
